We only use extra coarse sea salt harvested from the Pacific Ocean. It is made by channeling ocean water into ponds and allowing the sun and wind to evaporate it naturally. And its made right here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Where it boasts one of only two sea salt works in the entire United States. It is an ideal area for salt making, thanks to clay soils and a Mediterranean climate - just enough rain in the fall, winter and spring, followed by dry summers with steady breezes and plenty of summer sunshine. Our Product will never contain any anticaking or free-flowing additives or conditioners.
We always take care what we choose for our salt, for Mums Redwine Sea Salt we use a good amount of a delicous Merlot from a local California Winery. Infused in our Sea Salt it enhances flavour on hearty tomato-based dishes, red meats or poultry, and chocolate desserts. Yes, damn right try it on deserts!
